Claire-Marie Mewett and the very friendly van team
Marilyn Jones is researching her family history. Her great grandfather, Jacob Piddlesden (born at Danegate in 1843) married Harriett Packam born in Frant in 1842. They married at Holy Trinity, Eridge on 25th March 1865 and raised their four children, Walter, Nelson, Arthur and Kate in the village. The Piddlesdens worked for many years on the Eridge Estate, the last one being Walter (lived at 4, The Forstal with his wife Annie) who retired in 1943 after 64 years and this occasion was mentioned in the Church Magazine at the time. Marilyn would be grateful for any contact with either Piddlesden or Packham descendants who might have any information to help in her continuing search. e-mail her if you can help.
Lisa
de Garston is researching her family history. Great Great Grandmother
was Maria Akehurst (born 1883 in Frant), the daughter of James & Mary
Akehurst (nee Rabbitt) who lived at Rushlye Cottages, Frant. Maria had 11
siblings, Sarah Ann, Kate, Rose, James, Alice, Ernest, Charles, Sidney Edward,
John, Julia, and finally Thomas. Maria married William Rogers in 1877 at
St Albans. Maria and William moved out of Frant and had four children, Emma,
Thomas, Alice (my Great Grandmother) and William. In1891 Maria and her family
were living in Hever and her two brothers, Charles, a gamekeeper and Sidney
lodged with them. Maria and William then moved to Tunbridge Wells to Spencer
Mews and later Varney Street.
She would be grateful for any contact with either Akehurst or Rogers descendants
who might have any information to help in her search. e-mail
